Virginia Business Council

The Virginia Business Council (VBC) is made up of the CEOs and senior executives at Virginia’s top corporations. The VBC’s membership represents a variety of industries, including agriculture, mining, manufacturing, retail, wholesale distribution, commercial and investment banking, shipbuilding, food processing, communications, information technology, consulting, transportation, news media, energy and others. The VBC’s members are bipartisan and are united to preserve, protect and enhance free enterprise and economic development in the Commonwealth of Virginia. At this time, the organization is focused on Virginia’s fiscal condition and advocating for critical investment in education and transportation. Access Point Public Affairs provides state government affairs support, media relations and communications, meeting logistical management and general administrative services to the VBC.

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), which oversees Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, is a bi-state compact created with the consent of the U.S. Congress. The Authority is focused on actively planning and providing world-class access to the global aviation system in a way that anticipates and serves the needs of the National Capital area.  Access Point Public Affairs provides support to MWAA in the areas of state and local government affairs, relationship development, and strategic community relations.

Inova Loudoun Hospital

Loudoun Healthcare, Inc., merged with Inova Health System in 2005, bringing together two nationally recognized, not-for-profit healthcare organizations.  Inova is committed to fulfilling Loudoun’s vision to be an innovative, advanced community hospital system serving the residents of Loudoun County, with access to healthcare for everyone.  This merger is bringing high tech advancements, new services, ground-breaking research and healthcare education opportunities to the fastest growing county in the nation.  Access Point Public Affairs provides Inova Loudoun Hospital with state and local government affairs support, state-level relationship development assistance, support identifying and creating strategic partnership opportunities, and public affairs services focused in the northern Virginia region.

Macerich

With a focus on high-growth, attractive U.S. markets, Macerich® (NYSE: MAC) is one of the country’s largest owners, operators and developers of major retail properties. Key markets include Arizona, California, the New York City metropolitan area, and suburban Washington, D.C., within an expansive national footprint.  Macerich’s dynamic portfolio includes some of the country’s highest-performing shopping centers, including Tysons Corner Center in Fairfax County, Va., Queens Center in New York City, and Scottsdale Fashion Square in Arizona. Total gross leaseable area at 73 centers exceeds 77 million square feet.  Access Point Public Affairs is providing public affairs expertise in support of Macerich's Tysons Corner Center.

Dominion

Dominion is one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy, with a portfolio of approximately 26,500 megawatts of generation, 7,800 miles of natural gas transmission pipeline and 1 Tcfe of proved natural gas and oil reserves. Dominion also owns and operates the nation's largest underground natural gas storage system with about 960 billion cubic feet of storage capacity and serves retail energy customers in 11 states. Access Point Public Affairs is providing public affairs support of Dominion's goals and objectives in Virginia.

Community Education Partners

Community Education Partners (CEP)  is an education company that works in partnership with public schools and their communities throughout the country to get disruptive and low-performing students back on track.  CEP has been extremely successful at not only making schools safer by removing these students from the district schools and working with them in an alternative setting, but also has been successful at achieving positive behavioral change and improved academic performance for students who are not earning grade promotion or course credit at a pace that will allow them to graduate on time.  Access Point supported CEP's efforts to explore potential opportunities to partner with Loudoun County Public Schools.

National Counseling Group, Inc.

NCG, Inc. is a private group of therapists and counselors dedicated to providing comprehensive counseling and outpatient services to individuals and families in the Northern, Central, Eastern and Southwestern regions in the state of Virginia. NCG, Inc. caters to high-risk clients who need specialized intensive and in-home services for mental health and/or substance abuse issues. NCG's trained clinical staff is widely respected and recognized in the field of mental health and substance abuse treatment. Their collective experience spans the public and private sectors, and each clinician is licensed and/or certified in his/her particular field of expertise.  Access Point Public Affairs provides communications, media relations, relationship development and government affairs support to NCG.

Colonial Pipeline Company

Based in Atlanta, Ga., Colonial Pipeline Company provides a vital service to communities and businesses throughout the eastern United States through the transport of refined petroleum products. Colonial continues to be the world’s largest volume refined petroleum products pipeline system.  Through its 5,519-mile system, it delivers a daily average of 95 million gallons of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, aviation and military fuels. Colonial recently completed expansion of its existing facilities in Fairfax County to serve the increasing needs for aviation fuel at Dulles Airport.  In preparation for this project, Access Point Public Affairs developed a feasibility analysis and strategic public affairs plan which provided for proactive outreach and communications about this important project.  Access Point implemented the strategic public affairs plan to support the Dulles Pipeline Expansion Project, which included message and materials development, outreach to government stakeholders who represent the project area, community outreach, media relations, and public opinion leader outreach.   Access Point has also represented Colonial Pipeline before the Virginia General Assembly.

World Trade Center Dulles Airport at One Loudoun

Loudoun County has been selected as the site for a new World Trade Center for the Dulles region.  World Trade Center Dulles Airport at One Loudoun is projected to generate up to 14,000 new jobs and serve as a powerful economic development engine by promoting both international trade and domestic investment from around the world.  One Loudoun is a venture of Miller and Smith and the Meridian Group.  Miller and Smith is the third largest privately held builder in the Washington, D.C., region and is widely recognized for its innovation and quality.  Access Point Public Affairs has provided media relations support, public opinion leader outreach and communications expertise in northern Virginia and at the state level in Virginia in support of Miller and Smith's One Loudoun and World Trade Center Dulles Airport project.

ChildSafeNet

ChildSafeNet is a 501(c) (3) non-profit charitable organization working with local law enforcement officials to make the community safer for kids. The Fairfax County Police Department is currently implementing ChildSafeNet’s signature P'CASO (Protecting Children Against Sex Offenders) Program in northern Virginia. In its operational phase P’CASO is a law enforcement program that provides comprehensive protection for children by increasing police presence both on the Internet and in the community at large. Access Point Public Affairs is developing and implementing a comprehensive public affairs program for ChildSafeNet, which includes: communications message development; materials development and enhancement; government affairs at the federal, state and local levels; and outreach targeting business leaders and potential strategic partners.

Angler Environmental

Angler Environmental provides a broad spectrum of consulting,  engineering, and construction services related to water resources and environmental issues affecting land development projects.  Angler's staff has extensive backgrounds in the areas of planning, environmental regulation, engineering and land development providing clients unparalleled access to development solutions that effectively balance environmental constraints with real-world budgetary parameters.  Access Point Public Affairs has represented Angler Environmental before the Virginia General Assembly.

Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC)

NOVEC is one of the nation's largest electric cooperatives, serving more than 130,000 residents and businesses throughout northern Virginia.  NOVEC's service territory includes more than 5,800 miles of electric lines and 51 substations over a six-county area, including Clarke, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford counties and the city of Manassas Park.  NOVEC's ability to provide quality service and reliable delivery of electricity depends on its 300 well-trained and highly productive employees.  Access Point Public Affairs developed and implemented a local public affairs strategy to support NOVEC's growth and expansion in northern Virginia.  This strategy included: message development; relationship development to improve communications with government officials in Loudoun, Fairfax and Prince William counties; efforts to streamline and improve NOVEC's participation in local planning and approval processes; better engagement and understanding of local development projects in northern Virginia; and targeted community events awareness to support NOVEC's business goals and objectives.

The Alliance for Lower Electric Rates Today (ALERT)/The Coalition for Fair Electricity Rates (CFER)

The Alliance for Lower Electric Rates Today (ALERT), now known as the Coalition for Fair Electricity Rates (CFER) represents a wide range of commercial consumers of electricity in Virginia, from large industrial companies to small retail businesses. The organization advocates before state government in support of lower electric rates and electric industry regulatory policies that provide stable, fair electricity rates in Virginia. Access Point Public Affairs has led intensive lobbying efforts before the Virginia General Assembly on behalf of ALERT and CFER, which involved working in coalition with other organizations that shared their goals, including the Virginia Manufacturers Association, the Virginia Retail Merchants Association, the Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington (AOBA), the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, the Virginia Agribusiness Council, the Virginia Chemistry Council, the Virginia Citizens Consumers Council, the Old Dominion Committee for Fair Utility Rates, the Virginia Committee for Fair Utility Rates, the Virginia Forest Products Association, and the Virginia Association of Electric Cooperatives. 

Arts Council of Fairfax County, Inc.

Through partnerships with the business community, Fairfax County Public Schools, individual artists and other cultural and community organizations, the Arts Council of Fairfax County, Inc., creates and supports programs, activities and policies that inspire, nurture and reflect the cultural and artistic diversity of Fairfax County and works to integrate the arts into the lives of all Fairfax County residents.   In addition to providing enriching cultural experiences for Fairfax County citizens, the Council also acts as a advocate for the community's artists and cultural facilities.  Access Point Public Affairs developed and implemented a grass roots advocacy campaign to successfully support the 2006 Arts Funding Initiative, which was approved by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.  This effort included materials and message development to support the advocacy campaign, public opinion leader and organizational outreach and mobilization, and media relations.

Dulles Area Transportation Association (DATA)

DATA is a Transportation Management Association (TMA) that identifies transportation needs; advocates steps to meet those needs; and provides a forum for members and other concerned parties to be informed of opportunities and participate in timely actions that will bring about a more effective transportation system. DATA's Area of Operations encompasses an approximately 150-square mile area bounded by the Potomac River on the north, Hunter Mill Rd. on the east, by the Route 15 corridor on the west, and the Rt. 66 corridor on the south.  Access Point Public Affairs provide media relations support to DATA to promote and increase awareness about the organization's special events, programs and initiatives.

WCI Communities, Inc.

WCI Communities is America's preeminent builder of award-winning neighborhoods and communities in Florida, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Virginia. WCI builds the finest homes and high rise residences with an incomparable level of quality and ingenuity while offering an unrivaled array of social, leisure and recreational activities.  Access Point Public Affairs provided WCI Communities with local government relations and public opinion leaders advocacy and outreach support.

Virginia REFORM Initiative

Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates, William J. Howell, formed the Virginia REFORM Initiative to develop and advance free market-based reforms that will positively improve state government and the lives of Virginians.  The Virginia REFORM Initiative is dedicated to educating state government officials and the people of Virginia on a wide range of public policy issues.  In light of the importance of the transportation issue, the Virginia REFORM Initiative focused its initial efforts on developing and supporting the most comprehensive transportation plan introduced during the 2005 General Assembly session.  Access Point Public Affairs provided support to the Virginia REFORM Initiative in the areas of communications, public opinion leader education and outreach, and lobbying, which resulted in passage of the most significant investment in transportation in Virginia in 20 years – a critical first step to addressing this important challenge. 

Curiosity Zone, LLC

The Curiosity Zone is offering the nation’s first-ever neighborhood-based, kid-sized science and tech enrichment lab for children in Loudoun County, Va.  Through fun, familiar projects and activities, the C-Zone inspires kids between 1 and 12 years to explore, discover and learn about the world around them.  Weekly classes, birthday parties, workshops and toys offer a smarter enrichment experience for twenty-first century kids.  Access Point Public Affairs provides media relations, marketing, strategic partnership development and community relations support to this new business, which is actively pursuing franchising opportunities.

The Partnership for Healthcare Options

The Partnership for Healthcare Options was a community partnership between the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce and Loudoun Hospital that focused on addressing the issue of affordable and accessible health insurance in Loudoun County, particularly for small businesses.  The Partnership’s efforts were on the following:  educating business people about their current health insurance options and how to shop for health insurance; pursuing opportunities to organize and build support for a community-focused solution in Loudoun County; and working in collaboration with other organizations and initiatives to support public policy changes that will help address the challenges small businesses face.  Access Point Public Affairs provided public affairs, marketing and event management support to the Partnership as part of its extensive efforts to educate small businesses on this important issue.
