Virginia Business Council
The Virginia Business Council (VBC) is made up of the CEOs and senior executives at Virginia’s largest corporations. The VBC’s membership represents a variety of industries, including agriculture, mining, manufacturing, retail, wholesale distribution, commercial and investment banking, shipbuilding, food processing, communications, information technology, consulting, transportation, news media, energy and others. The VBC’s members are bipartisan and are united to preserve, protect and enhance free enterprise and economic development in the Commonwealth of Virginia. At this time, the organization is focused on Virginia’s fiscal condition and advocating for critical investment in education and transportation. In addition to its general state and federal issue advocacy, the VBC has also launched a workforce-focused initiative that is focused on improving the workforce development and education systems in Virginia to better meet the business community needs. Access Point Public Affairs provides state government affairs support, media relations and communications, meeting logistical management and association management services to the VBC.
Northern Virginia Chamber Partnership
In January of 2010, the Dulles Regional, Loudoun County and Greater Reston chambers of commerce, located in northern Virginia, announced plans to retain formal representation of their members as the Virginia General Assembly convened in Richmond. Building on a successful partnership started during the 2009 General Assembly session between the Dulles Regional and Loudoun County chambers, which was joined by the Greater Reston Chamber, this new partnership enabled northern Virginia businesses to have unprecedented representation during the 2010 legislative session. The Northern Virginia Chamber Partnership collectively represents more than 2,800 businesses and 100,000 jobs.
Access Point Public Affairs provided public affairs support and representation before the Virginia General Assembly to the Loudoun County and Dulles Regional chambers in 2009, and continues to represent what has become the Northern Virginia Chamber Partnership, adding the Greater Reston Chamber to the group, beginning in 2010, and extending to today.
Virginia Alliance for Tort Reform
The Virginia Alliance for Tort Reform is dedicated to promoting a fair, reliable and efficient system of civil justice in Virginia. Enacting meaningful tort reform measures will lower the costs of litigation and improve the overall business climate. The Alliance is comprised of Virginia businesses, organizations, and individuals who believe that our current system of tort reform can be improved by passing legislation at the Virginia General Assembly. Access Point provided communications, public affairs outreach and state government relations support to the Virginia Alliance for Tort Reform, which successfully passed a series of reforms that significantly improved Virginia's legal system for businesses in 2013.
The Alliance for Lower Electric Rates Today (ALERT)/The Coalition for Fair Electricity Rates (CFER)
The Alliance for Lower Electric Rates Today (ALERT)/Coalition for Fair Electricity Rates (CFER) represented a wide range of commercial consumers of electricity in Virginia, from large industrial companies to small retail businesses. The organization advocated before state government in support of lower electric rates and electric industry regulatory policies that provide stable, fair electricity rates in Virginia. Access Point Public Affairs led intensive lobbying efforts before the Virginia General Assembly on behalf of ALERT and CFER, which involved working in coalition with other organizations that shared their goals, including the Virginia Manufacturers Association, the Virginia Retail Merchants Association, the Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington (AOBA), the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, the Virginia Agribusiness Council, the Virginia Chemistry Council, the Virginia Citizens Consumers Council, the Old Dominion Committee for Fair Utility Rates, the Virginia Committee for Fair Utility Rates, the Virginia Forest Products Association, and the Virginia Association of Electric Cooperatives.
Yuma Tobaco Corporation
Yuma Tobaco Corporation is a privately held organic tobacco company based in Miami, Fla., with operations in Brazil and Germany. Yuma grows organic tobacco leaf, and produces and sells organic tobacco products in North America, South America and Europe. Access Point has provided public affairs support to Yuma in Virginia.

In order to achieve that mission, its strategy is to build best-in-class platforms and productivity services for a mobile-first, cloud-first world. Microsoft seeks to reinvent productivity and business processes, build the intelligent cloud platform, and create more personal computing. Access Point provides state-level government affairs support to Microsoft and has provided local support, specifically in Fairfax County, to improve awareness and utilization of the partnership between Microsoft and Fairfax County Public Schools.
Discovery Communications is the world's number one nonfiction media company, reaching more than 1.5 billion cumulative subscribers in 210 countries and territories. Discovery is dedicated to satisfying curiosity through its 130-plus worldwide television networks, led by the Discovery Channel, as well as U.S. joint venture networks, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, the Hub, and #net, the first 24-hour 3D network. Discovery is also the leading provider of educational products and services to schools and owns and operates a diversified portfolio of digital media services, including HowStuffWorks.com. Access Point provided local government affairs support to Discovery as it worked to increase the capabilities of its site in Loudoun County, Va., through expansion and technical investment that required land use approvals by the Board of Supervisors, which were ultimately granted with Access Point support.

SAP Americas' corporate headquarters is located in Newtown Square, Pa., a suburb of Philadelphia. SAP's officers and executives lead a team of professionals dedicated to delivering high-level customer support and services. Founded in 1972 as Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing, SAP has a rich history of innovation and growth that has made it the recognized leader in providing collaborative business solutions for all types of industries – in every major market. Applus is a global leader in the vehicle emissions inspection industry and in the U.S. alone, Applus has delivered comprehensive vehicle emissions testing programs that collectively represent more than 2,800 testing facilities, more than seven million vehicle tests per year and more than 20,000 Applus trained and certified emissions inspectors. Access Point has provided procurement support to Applus in Virginia.

Macerich/Tysons Corner Center
With a focus on high-growth, attractive U.S. markets, Macerich® (NYSE: MAC) is one of the country’s largest owners, operators and developers of major retail properties. Key markets include Arizona, California, the New York City metropolitan area, and suburban Washington, D.C., within an expansive national footprint. Macerich’s dynamic portfolio includes some of the country’s highest-performing shopping centers, including Tysons Corner Center in Fairfax County, Va., Queens Center in New York City, and Scottsdale Fashion Square in Arizona. Total gross leasable area at 73 centers exceeds 77 million square feet. Access Point Public Affairs is providing state and local public affairs expertise in support of Macerich's Tysons Corner Center, including representing Macerich before the Virginia General Assembly. They also provide specific support in working with the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Virginia Secretary of Transportation to address and collaborate on critical transportation issues surrounding Tysons Corner Center.
The RTC Partnership is constructing a 23-story (five-story podium parking with retail and 18 floors of office space) “Class A” signature mixed-use commercial building, which consists of approximately 413,700 square feet of office uses and 5,200 square feet of retail and restaurant uses.
Through this project, the RTC Partnership seeks to complement the Urban Core of Reston Town Center, while offering an iconic, landmark-style building that provides a highly visible gateway to the Town Center North area. It will be building a “signature” mixed-use building that will reflect all that is special and unique about Reston, adding to its already nationally-known character and raising the bar for future building design in Northern Virginia through its world-class architecture.
Access Point provided strategic public affairs and communications services to the RTC Partnership to enable its project to receive approval by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors with strong business and community support.
One Loudoun/Miller & Smith
Loudoun County has been selected as the site for a new World Trade Center for the Dulles region. World Trade Center Dulles Airport at One Loudoun is projected to generate up to 14,000 new jobs and serve as a powerful economic development engine by promoting both international trade and domestic investment from around the world. One Loudoun is a venture of Miller and Smith, which is the third largest privately held builder in the Washington, D.C., region and is widely recognized for its innovation and quality. Access Point Public Affairs has provided media relations support, public opinion leader outreach and communications expertise in northern Virginia and at the state level in support of Miller and Smith's One Loudoun and World Trade Center Dulles Airport project.

American Clinical Laboratory Association
The American Clinical Laboratory Association (ACLA) is a not-for-profit organization created in 1971 which offers members the benefits of representation, education, information and research. Its primary purpose is to:

- Encourage the highest standards of quality, service and ethical conduct among its members; and

Virginia Association of Community-Based Providers
The Virginia Association of Community-Based Providers (VACBP) is a statewide, not-for-profit association formed to create a united, well-informed and engaged voice among the private-sector community-based behavioral health and substance abuse treatment providers in Virginia. Resolute.me is a web-based, community-focused tool that empowers individuals by providing a personalized path to dealing with a top-tier public health challenge that impacts everyone in some form – stress. Resolute.me creates actionable, informed opportunities to learn about and mitigate the devastating impacts of stress on an individualized level. Access Point is leveraging its credibility in northern Virginia to provide strategic connections to enable this Loudoun County-based start-up to launch with strong community input and engagement, including facilitating the development of partnerships with key businesses and organizations, as well as providing media relations and communications support.
Inova Health System/Inova Loudoun Hospital
Inova Health System is a not-for-profit healthcare system based in northern Virginia that consists of hospitals and other health services, including emergency- and urgent-care centers, home care, nursing homes, mental health and blood donor services, and wellness classes. Governed by a voluntary board of community members, Inova’s mission is to improve the health of the diverse community it serves through excellence in patient care, education and research.
Loudoun Healthcare, Inc., merged with Inova Health System in 2005, bringing together two nationally recognized, not-for-profit healthcare organizations. Inova is committed to fulfilling Loudoun’s vision to be an innovative, advanced community hospital system serving the residents of Loudoun County, with access to healthcare for everyone. This merger brought high tech advancements, new services, ground-breaking research and healthcare education opportunities to the fastest growing county in the nation.
For Inova Health System, Access Point has provided strategic community relations guidance and support. In addition, Access Point provided Inova Loudoun Hospital with state and local government affairs support, support identifying and creating strategic partnership opportunities, and public affairs services focused in the northern Virginia region.
National Counseling Group, Inc.
NCG, Inc. is a private group of therapists and counselors dedicated to providing comprehensive counseling and outpatient services to individuals and families in the Northern, Central, Eastern and Southwestern regions in the state of Virginia. NCG, Inc. caters to high-risk clients who need specialized intensive and in-home services for mental health and/or substance abuse issues. NCG's trained clinical staff is widely respected and recognized in the field of mental health and substance abuse treatment. Their collective experience spans the public and private sectors, and each clinician is licensed and/or certified in his/her particular field of expertise. Access Point Public Affairs has provided communications, media relations, relationship development and government affairs support to NCG. Access Point also represented NCG before the General Assembly at the state level with a focus on policy and budget issues that impact the provision of mental health and substance abuse treatment services to Virginians in need of the support NCG provides.
Lyme disease is the number one vector-borne disease in the U.S. and worldwide. US BIOLOGIC is implementing the technology that holds the most promise to providing an effective cost-effective solution to the world's growing Lyme epidemic. Its LymeShield solution is an innovative vaccine delivery process that breaks the cycle of the virus that causes Lyme disease, thereby preventing the transmission of the disease. Access Point has provided state and local public affairs services to US BIOLOGIC in Virginia.
American Medical Response, Inc./Access2Care
American Medical Response, Inc. (AMR) d.b.a. Access2Care is the largest provider and manager of medical transportation in the United States. With more than 100 years of extensive experience, AMR has succeeded in its mission because it is a large company that consistently delivers quality medical brokerage and transportation services that exceed our clients’ expectations. Nationally, AMR's Access2Care managed transportation/brokerage program provides service to a large customer base inclusive of health plans, managed care organizations and state government agencies. Combined, AMR provides transportation brokerage and management services in 20 states covering more than 10 million lives.
Additionally, AMR, as the nation’s largest emergency and non-emergence medical transportation provider, operates six divisions and 76 subsidiaries in 40 states and the District of Columbia. Through this organization, it operates 53 medical-related call centers and 4,400 vehicles, providing transport to almost 4 million patients per year.
Access Point provided strategic public affairs and procurement positions support to AMR as it worked to expand its presence in Virginia.

Access Point Public Affairs provided state-level public affairs and government relations support to Sanofi Pasteur in Virginia.

Access Point Public Affairs has represented HMS before the Virginia General Assembly on pharmacy audit issues, as well as in support of legislation that was passed to enable the "HealthBright" program to be available to children in the Child Support Program in Virginia. HMS and UnitedHealthcare partnered to offer this solution for cases when traditional coverage is not affordable or available, enabling a solution that can be implemented at no cost to child support agencies, and can enable them to meet new Federal medical support requirements.
Grifols is a global healthcare company whose mission is to improve the health and well being of people around the world. It accomplishes its mission by producing life-saving protein therapies for patients and by providing hospitals, pharmacies and healthcare professionals with the tools they need to deliver expert medical care. They have three primary divisions -- Bioscience, Diagnostic and Hospital -- which develop, produce and market their innovative services to medical professionals in more than 90 countries around the world. Access Point has provided state government relations support to Grifols in Virginia.
The Partnership for Healthcare Options
The Partnership for Healthcare Options was a community partnership between the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce and Loudoun Hospital that focused on addressing the issue of affordable and accessible health insurance in Loudoun County, particularly for small businesses. The Partnership’s efforts were on the following: educating business people about their current health insurance options and how to shop for health insurance; pursuing opportunities to organize and build support for a community-focused solution in Loudoun County; and working in collaboration with other organizations and initiatives to support public policy changes that will help address the challenges small businesses face. Access Point Public Affairs provided public affairs, marketing and event management support to the Partnership as part of its extensive efforts to educate small businesses on this important issue.

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), which oversees Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, is a bi-state compact created with the consent of the U.S. Congress. The Authority is focused on actively planning and providing world-class access to the global aviation system in a way that anticipates and serves the needs of the National Capital area. MWAA is also constructing the Dulles Corridor Rail Project. Access Point Public Affairs has provided support to MWAA in the areas of state and local government affairs, relationship development and strategic community relations.
Dulles Area Transportation Association (DATA)
DATA is a Transportation Management Association (TMA) that identifies transportation needs; advocates steps to meet those needs; and provides a forum for members and other concerned parties to be informed of opportunities and participate in timely actions that will bring about a more effective transportation system. DATA's Area of Operations encompasses an approximately 150-square mile area bounded by the Potomac River on the north, Hunter Mill Road on the east, by the Route 15 corridor on the west, and the Route 66 corridor on the south. Access Point Public Affairs has provided media relations support to DATA to promote and increase awareness about the organization's special events, programs and initiatives.
Regency is one of the largest taxicab companies in Maryland and is dedicated to serving Montgomery County. Regency is situated as one of the premier taxi companies in the region with an emphasis on superior customer service and advanced technology, with a high level of community and industry involvement. Regency recently won the contract to provide Super Shuttle service between Dulles and National Airports and hopes to be among the companies selected to provide Washington Flyer taxi service out of Dulles Airport. Access Point provided procurement positioning to Regency as it worked to engage more actively in the market in Virginia.
Challenger Transportation is a Gaithersburg, Maryland-based company, providing paratransit services since 1999. Access Point is providing government relations, communications and media relations support to Challenger as it works to address significant issues encountered in its recent procurement with WMATA.
Virginia REFORM Initiative
Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates, William J. Howell, formed the Virginia REFORM Initiative to develop and advance free market-based reforms that positively improve state government and the lives of Virginians. The Virginia REFORM Initiative is dedicated to educating state government officials and the people of Virginia on a wide range of public policy issues. In light of the importance of the transportation issue, the Virginia REFORM Initiative focused its initial efforts on developing and supporting the most comprehensive transportation plan introduced during the 2005 General Assembly session. Access Point Public Affairs provided support to the Virginia REFORM Initiative in the areas of communications, public opinion leader education and outreach, and lobbying, which resulted in passage of the most significant investment in transportation in Virginia in 20 years – a first step to addressing this important challenge.
Dulles Metrorail Connectors
Dulles Metrorail Connectors (DMC) is a consortium of highly skilled contractors and designers assembled specifically to complete Phase 2 of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project, an important transit link to the Nation's Capital. Team member firms and leaders possess unparalleled experience and expertise delivering similar complex design-build projects. Specifically, team members include: Skanska, Granite, Wagman, Facchina, Trumblell, Gannett Fleming, and JMT. DMC was among the five teams that were shortlisted to construct Phase 2 of the Dulles Rail project. Access Point provided state and local public affairs services, communications, disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) outreach support, and procurement positioning guidance to the DMC team.

Columbia Pipeline Group
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Columbia Pipeline Group (CPG) companies own and operate more than 15,000 miles of strategically located natural gas pipelines, integrated with one of the largest underground storage systems in North America. From the Gulf Coast to the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, our systems connect premium natural gas supplies with some of the nation’s strongest energy markets, serving customers in more than 16 states. Approximately 1.3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas flows through our pipeline and storage systems each year, providing competitively priced, clean energy for millions of homes, businesses and industries. Access Point Public Affairs is providing local public affairs, government relations, strategic connections and communications support to CPG as it works to advance a critical project in northern Virginia that will increase much-needed access to natural gas. Access Point also provides public affairs support related to the company's other efforts in the region, including tree clearing, system maintenance and other infrastructure improvements.
Dominion Resources, Inc.
Dominion is one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy, with a portfolio of approximately 26,500 megawatts of generation, 7,800 miles of natural gas transmission pipeline and 1 Tcfe of proved natural gas and oil reserves. Dominion also owns and operates the nation's largest underground natural gas storage system with about 960 billion cubic feet of storage capacity and serves retail energy customers in 11 states. Access Point Public Affairs has provided public affairs support of Dominion's goals and objectives in Virginia with a focus on northern Virginia.
Colonial Pipeline Company
Based in Atlanta, Ga., Colonial Pipeline Company provides a vital service to communities and businesses throughout the eastern United States through the transport of refined petroleum products. Colonial continues to be the world’s largest volume refined petroleum products pipeline system. Through its 5,519-mile system, it delivers a daily average of 95 million gallons of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, aviation and military fuels. With Access Point support, Colonial completed expansion of its existing facilities in Fairfax County to serve the increasing needs for aviation fuel at Dulles Airport. In preparation for this project, Access Point Public Affairs developed a feasibility analysis and strategic public affairs plan which provided for proactive outreach and communications about this important project. Access Point implemented the strategic public affairs plan to support the Dulles Pipeline Expansion Project, which included message and materials development, outreach to government stakeholders who represent the project area, community outreach, media relations, and public opinion leader outreach. Access Point has represented Colonial Pipeline before the Virginia General Assembly and provided local government support on specific projects in the northern Virginia region.
Covanta Energy is an internationally recognized owner and operator of Energy-from Waste (EFW) (also known as waste-to-energy or WTE) and renewable energy projects and has provided reliable and sustainable municipal solid waste (MSW) management to communities since 1986. They operate more than 40 state-of-the-art facilities that convert everyday trash into clean, renewable energy to communities around the world, including facilities in Lorton and Alexandria, Va. Covanta's Northern Virginia facilities supply electricity for approximately 1 million homes. Access Point has provided local public affairs and targeted community engagement support to Covanta in northern Virginia.
Virginia Uranium is a Virginia company with roots running deep into Virginia history and environmental stewardship. The Coles Family and the Bowen Family, the largest shareholders in our company, have lived on the Coles Hill uranium site in Southside Virginia for generations. All of their full-time employees have firm ties to Southside Virginia, and, during their four years in business, they have worked earnestly to patronize Virginia companies in everything they've done. Our families—including parents, siblings, children, grandchildren—all have a stake in seeing that Virginia Uranium never strays from its abiding respect for Southside’s economic progress, as well as its role as a leader in environmental stewardship.

Allegheny Energy was an investor-owned utility with over $3 billion in annual revenues and more than 4,000 employees. The company owned and operated generating facilities and delivered low-cost, reliable electric service to over 1.5 million customers in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland.
Access Point Public Affairs provided local public affairs support to Allegheny in Virginia specifically on what was the proposed the Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline (PATH) project, which was a joint venture of American Electric Power (AEP) and Allegheny Energy to build a new high-voltage interstate transmission line to meet the region's growing energy needs.
Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC)
NOVEC is one of the nation's largest electric cooperatives, serving more than 130,000 residents and businesses throughout northern Virginia. NOVEC's service territory includes more than 5,800 miles of electric lines and 51 substations over a six-county area, including Clarke, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford counties and the city of Manassas Park. NOVEC's ability to provide quality service and reliable delivery of electricity depends on its 300 well-trained and highly productive employees. Access Point Public Affairs developed and implemented a local public affairs strategy to support NOVEC's growth and expansion in northern Virginia. This strategy included: message development; relationship development to improve communications with government officials in Loudoun, Fairfax and Prince William counties; efforts to streamline and improve NOVEC's participation in local planning and approval processes; better engagement and understanding of local development projects in northern Virginia; and targeted community events awareness to support NOVEC's business goals and objectives.
Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P.
Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. (NYSE: MMP) is a publicly traded partnership formed to own, operate and acquire a diversified portfolio of energy assets. Its primary business is the transportation, storage and distribution of refined petroleum products. Since going public in 2001, Magellan has acquired close to $2 billion in strategic assets while delivering consistently strong performance. Its current asset portfolio includes over 80 petroleum products terminals, an 8,500-mile petroleum products pipeline system and an 1,100-mile ammonia pipeline system. Environmental Solutions, Inc. (ESI)
Environmental Solutions, Inc. (ESI) is dedicated to providing environmental solutions by integrating innovative processes, state of the art technology, and economics. ESI offers training and consulting, as well as, project development and management, using the Environmental Management Systems (EMS) principals. In addition, the company markets green products created as a result of projects managed by ESI, such as PaveMend and K-100 D for truck diesel performance. Access Point has assisted ESI in obtaining state grants to match with venture capital funding to create Bioenergy Applied Research Centers in Virginia.
Angler Environmental provides a broad spectrum of consulting, engineering, and construction services related to water resources and environmental issues affecting land development projects. Angler's staff has extensive backgrounds in the areas of planning, environmental regulation, engineering and land development providing clients unparalleled access to development solutions that effectively balance environmental constraints with real-world budgetary parameters. Access Point Public Affairs has represented Angler Environmental before the Virginia General Assembly.
CLIENTS FOCUSED ON EDUCATION AND YOUTH ISSUES
For nearly 80 years, Lifetouch has been the professional photography choice for schools and families. Headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minn., the enterprise is organized around four primary business units operating in local communities across North America. Built on the tradition of “Picture Day,” Lifetouch National School Studios captures smiling faces, kindergarten through high school graduation. Product lines include sports, events, seniors and yearbooks. Access Point provided state-level government affairs support to Lifetouch to advance its interests on the issue of student privacy.
The Children's Science Center
Children’s Science Center is an interactive children’s museum being planned for northern Virginia focused on math and science. Before they open their doors, they have spent the past few years working toward their goal to make science and math cool again through their “Museum without Walls” program. They actively participate in community events throughout northern Virginia where they provide engaging, science-focused activities for children ages 2-12. Access Point provided direct support to their site search process, as well as to their public affairs and communications efforts.
I Drive Smart
I Drive Smart was founded in 2004 by Tom Pecoraro, a veteran police officer with over 24 years of experience as a Maryland law enforcement officer. Officer Pecoraro witnessed too many collisions firsthand where inexperience and poor training brought harsh consequences. He knew something had to be done differently to prepare young drivers better for the road.
I Drive Smart started with five cars and 12 part-time instructors teaching classes in Maryland. Today, I Drive Smart has more than 120 instructors and a fleet of easy-to-spot yellow cars. Thousands of students in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia are I Drive Smart graduates. Their unique business model is unique in t hat all their instructors are all either current or former law enforcement officials.
Access Point has provided state-level public affairs and strategic partnership development support to I Drive Smart that has enabled the company to grow its business in Virginia.
The Loudoun Math and IT Academy Charter School
The Loudoun Math and IT Academy (LMITA) sought to establish a charter school in Loudoun County for grades 6 through 12 to enhance the excellent education Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is currently providing, with a particular emphasis in the Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) and cyber security areas.
The LMITA charter school project grew out of an effort by a group of Loudoun County parents, many of whom work in the IT field, who became interested in opportunities to have more focused math and IT education choices within LCPS. This group of parents researched charter schools across the tri-state area looking for a model that they thought may be a good fit for our community. Through their research, they found the Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School (CSP), which is in Anne Arundle County, Maryland, and has achieved significant success and recognition since its approval in 2005. After further discussions and consideration, they decided to pursue building support for and establishing a charter school here in Loudoun modeled after the CSP concept, but adapted it to meet the unique culture and dynamic here, as well as to provide a true enhancement to the already high level of education that is currently being provided to our children through LCPS.
The LMITA application was approved by Virginia’s State Board of Education and was considered by LCPS staff and the Loudoun County School Board. Access Point provided strategic public affairs, communications, social and traditional media, and outreach support to the LMITA, including serving as its public spokesperson.
Community Education Partners
Community Education Partners (CEP) is an education company that works in partnership with public schools and their communities throughout the country to get disruptive and low-performing students back on track. CEP has been extremely successful at not only making schools safer by removing these students from the district schools and working with them in an alternative setting, but also has been successful at achieving positive behavioral change and improved academic performance for students who are not earning grade promotion or course credit at a pace that will allow them to graduate on time. Access Point has supported CEP's efforts to explore potential opportunities to partner with Loudoun County Public Schools.
Curiosity Zone, LLC
The Curiosity Zone offers the nation’s first-ever neighborhood-based, kid-sized science and tech enrichment lab for children in Loudoun County, Va. Through fun, familiar projects and activities, the C-Zone inspires kids between the ages of 1 and 12 years to explore, discover and learn about the world around them. Weekly classes, birthday parties, workshops and toys offer a smarter enrichment experience for twenty-first century kids. Access Point Public Affairs provided media relations, marketing, strategic partnership development and community relations support to this business as it launched in Loudoun County.
ChildSafeNet is a 501(c) (3) non-profit charitable organization working with local law enforcement officials to make the community safer for kids. The Fairfax County Police Department implements ChildSafeNet’s signature P'CASO (Protecting Children Against Sex Offenders) Program, which transitioned to primarily, a Fairfax County-funded program in 2008. In its operational phase, P’CASO is a law enforcement program that provides comprehensive protection for children by increasing police presence both on the Internet and in the community at large. Access Point Public Affairs developed and implemented a comprehensive public affairs program for ChildSafeNet, which included: communications message development; materials development and enhancement; government affairs at the federal, state and local levels; and outreach targeting business leaders and potential strategic partners. In addition, Access Point successfully worked to transition the program from its reliance on Federal funding to what has become a nationally recognized, locally funded police unit focused on protecting children from sexual predators in Fairfax County.
Arts Council of Fairfax County, Inc.
Through partnerships with the business community, Fairfax County Public Schools, individual artists and other cultural and community organizations, the Arts Council of Fairfax County, Inc., creates and supports programs, activities and policies that inspire, nurture and reflect the cultural and artistic diversity of Fairfax County and works to integrate the arts into the lives of all Fairfax County residents. In addition to providing enriching cultural experiences for Fairfax County citizens, the Council also acts as an advocate for the community's artists and cultural facilities. Access Point Public Affairs developed and implemented a grass roots advocacy campaign to successfully support the 2006 Arts Funding Initiative, which was approved by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. This effort included materials and message development to support the advocacy campaign, public opinion leader and organizational outreach and mobilization, and media relations.
